Position Summary 
Reporting to the Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, the Postdoctoral 
Research Scientist will be part of the neuro-epigenetics research team of Dr. 
Marija Kundakovic, focusing on hormonal and environmental factors driving sex 
differences in depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.  
 
This position involves dissecting the epigenetic regulation of the brain and 
behavior by the estrous cycle, utilizing advanced techniques such as 
epigenomics assays and genetic manipulation in vivo. The incumbent performs 
genomics experiments, handles animals, and analyzes and interprets data.
 
Essential Functions 
∙ Performs and analyzes genomics experiments including ATAC-seq, ChIP-
  seq, and RNA-seq. 
∙ Handles animals, tracks the estrous cycle, and collects and sections brain 
  tissue. 
∙ Performs behavioral testing, brain stereotaxic surgeries, and 
  immunocytochemistry. 
∙ Analyzes and interprets data, performs conference presentations, and 
  prepares manuscripts. 
∙ Attends meetings with lab members and collaborators, and mentors 
  undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience 
∙ PhD in biological sciences, physiology, neuroscience, or related field. 
∙ Experience working with rodents for at least two years. 
 
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills 
∙ Good communication skills and the ability to work well independently and 
  with others. 
∙ Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to 
  the goals of Jesuit Education. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
∙ Expertise in molecular biology, behavioral neuroscience, and 
  neuroendocrinology. 
∙ Experience in rodent behavioral analysis, brain dissection and stereotaxic 
  surgeries, molecular biology techniques, and analysis of genomics data. 
 
Minimum Starting Salary: $62,500 
 
Maximum Starting Salary: $65,000 
 
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
