Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field
- Lab experience outside of coursework
- Ability to quickly learn and master programs and scientific applications
Preferences:
- Experience working with animal models, bonus for prior fish work or animal husbandry
- Advanced neuroscience, genetics, and/or molecular biology work
- Ability to manage overlapping projects and deadlines effectively
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work
- Experience with immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, molecular cloning, coding languages are all major plusses.
Additional Information:
- PCR genotyping
- CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
- Embryo microinjection
- Coordinating fish colony maintenance
- Ordering supplies
- Planning and performing experiments in support of research projects
- Helping with general lab maintenance as needed; maintaining lab stocks, managing chemical inventory and safety records
- Must be comfortable standing on stepladders and lifting 50 pounds
- Helping orient and train new staff or students
- Research techniques may include: Immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, microscopy,
behavior analysis, computational biology
