Job Title- PT CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR-ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING (Pool)
Position Status- Part Time
Classification Title- Part-Time Clinical Instructor-Up to 19 hpw
Work Location- Main Campus - 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX
Job Summary- The part-time associate degree nursing faculty member will teach in external clinical settings and/or in the nursing skills lab. Classroom teaching may be assigned depending on nursing experience and credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Current unencumbered license to practice professional nursing (RN) in the State of Texas
- Three years varied work experience as a registered nurse
- Evidence of current nursing skills
- Evidence of maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise and safety in the areas of teaching responsibility
- Evidence of teaching to students, staff in clinical agencies, or to patients/families
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing
- Experience teaching clinical nursing courses or precepting nursing students in a clinical agency
- Experience teaching in a simulated laboratory setting
- Experience teaching in a classroom environment
Essential Functions
- Work in cooperation with the Department Chair and program faculty to ensure course and program goals are achieved
- In team-taught courses, consult with the course instructor prior to beginning the semester to obtain and clarify course assignments
- In clinical, select appropriate patient assignments for the students utilizing course and clinical objectives
- Apply sound principles of teaching, learning, and evaluation
- Collaborate with the faculty in the evaluation of student achievement of learning outcomes
- Work cooperatively with clinical agency staff to provide quality learning experiences
- As assigned, work with students in the simulation laboratory using high fidelity manikins
- Teach and evaluate nursing skills
- Assist with setting up the skills lab and keeping the lab orderly
- Exhibit professionalism and dependability in areas such as attendance, preparedness, and timely performing of duties
- Provide appropriate documentation pertaining to instructional role as required by Department Chair and course instructor
- Attend faculty meetings as requested
- Demonstrate insight and assume responsibility for own professional growth
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift or move equipment needed in teaching nursing and directing students in the laboratory and clinical areas
- Able to ambulate to supervise students in the clinical area
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Use of manual dexterity
- Some travel to clinical sites is required
Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
Min Salary- LVN: $25.00 per hour ; ADN: $30.00 per hour
Max Salary- BSN: $40.00 per hour ; MSN or higher: $50.00 per hour
Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
