Seeking an experienced Human Resources professional for the position of Director of Human Resources for The Park Danforth. The Park Danforth has been voted the best of 207 in Senior Living and in Assisted Living! Come see what makes us so special!
The Park Danforth is a comfortable senior living community located in Portland, ME. Our beautiful campus is designed to promote wellness, socialization, and independence. Our current Director of Human Resources is relocating out of state so we are looking for a new dynamic leader to join our team and fill that position as she moves into the next exciting chapter of her life.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has experience in recruitment and retention, benefits and compensation administration, familiarity with automated payroll systems and HRIS, employee engagement and performance, an interest in networking and following best practices. Holds a SHRM-CP/SCP or aptitude for successfully obtaining the certification within one year of hire. While the position does require significant transactional work, it will offer opportunities for strategic work too.
The individual should be able to exhibit the following:

- a high level of comfort with change
- strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and aptitude for computer related programs
- effective leadership skills – including being a great listener, creative thinker, coaching and problem solving skills
- committed to discretion and confidentiality
- interested in details and affinity for research
- basic understanding of federal, state and local regulatory requirements
- an interest in learning

You are a skilled and experienced leader that leads by example and is dedicated to the mission of The Park Danforth and to the strong culture of employee respect. To ensure success in this position, the director must be able to strategize for the future while managing a heavy task load in a busy department. Self-motivating and collaborating with other department leaders is essential.
Other Specific responsibilities include:
- HR Administration: oversees and acts in partnership with the HR Specialist in payroll processing, benefit coordination, recruiting and onboarding, and HR operations. Directing the development of employment policies, procedures, objectives, and standards of practice to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
- Business Partnership and Strategy: acts as the main point of contact and liaison for business partners. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters. Ensuring that the organization maintains optimal staffing levels and implementing strategies that maintain The Park Danforth as the community of choice to work and live.
- Leadership Development and Staff Coaching: acts as a resource for leadership and staff in terms of any personal or interpersonal issues. Provides leadership development and counsel to department directors.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $77,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
