About the role

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the Clinical Psychology Training Programme as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer on a 0.4 FTE basis (14.4 hours a week/2 days a week) at the University of Surrey. The Surrey PsychD Programme has seen an increase in training places over the past few years, meaning this post provides a unique opportunity to join at a time of growth and innovation.

  • The post is largely teaching-focused, including development and assessment of trainee clinical capability. 
  • Up to 10% of the time will be dedicated to pedagogical research or research co-supervision for PsychD students.
  • You will be expected to contribute directly to evaluation of clinical competencies, develop links with local NHS Trusts, and contribute towards teaching, learning and research, in addition to day-to-day administrative tasks of the programme.

About you

We welcome applications from Psychologists with expertise across a variety of clinical or research settings, to contribute broadly to the programme. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, Neuropsychology, Older Adults, Learning Disabilities, Health Psychology and Community Psychology and we seek to appoint Psychologists who strive to address social justice, inequalities and under-served communities.  

In addition, the post holder must:

  • Hold a clinical or counselling doctorate in psychology, or equivalent.
  • Be a registered Clinical or Counselling psychologist.
  • Have a strong and evidenced interest in applied research.
  • Work well as a member of a team. 
  • Be passionate about developing the clinical proficiency of our Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

The salary will be dependent of the level of experience.
