Job Description

 

A Village For One (AV41) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to serve youth and young adults who are currently or have been identified as Commercially Sexual Exploited Children (CSEC). For the last 12 years, AV41 has been serving the vulnerable CSEC population in the state of Oregon by providing community-based mental health services, case management and therapeutic residential care, in which they can experience support, growth, and empowerment.

The AV41 Executive Director serves as the organization’s key management leader and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for leading successful development and implementation of strategies, overseeing business decisions and the senior team, and assuring delivery on board-approved vision, mission, values, goals and impact measures. They work closely with the board and the senior team to ensure alignment of all organizational policies, practices, and investment of human and financial resources with board directions. This includes collaborating and managing relationships with stakeholders and guiding the organization in a productive and sustainable manner.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Board Governance: Working with the Board to govern and fulfill the organization’s mission.
  • Leading AV41 in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission.
  • Communicating effectively with the Board and providing all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Creating business plans for achieving goals and objectives in collaboration with the Board.
  • Financial Performance and Viability: Developing resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Maintaining the fiscal integrity of AV41 by submitting to the Board a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Fiscal management that includes operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintaining a positive financial position.
  • Meeting fundraising goals, in partnership with the Board, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors and government funding sources.
  • Fulfilling the requirements of annual financial audits and other external financial reviews
  • Organization Mission and Strategy: Building and leading an effective team that is dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through effective programming and community engagement.
  • Implementing programs that carry out AV41’s mission.
  • Leading strategic planning efforts to ensure the organization’s ability to continue to fulfill its mission.
  • Enhancing the image of AV41 by participating in external events to increase visibility and credibility, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness.
  • Staying abreast of emerging trends and changes in mental health and related policy landscape.
  • Organization Operations: Overseeing and allocating appropriate resources to ensure proper operations of the organization.
  • Effective administration of AV41’s operations.
  • Hiring and retaining qualified and competent staff.
  • Signing of all contacts, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into on behalf of the organization.

 

Job Duties:

  • Planning and managing organizational and program budgets
  • Establishing administrative policies and procedures for the day-to-day operation
  • Serving as AV41’s primary spokesperson to its constituents, the media, and the general public.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community partners and policymakers.
  • Organizing board meetings and working closely with the Board of Directors on policy development, decision making and fundraising
  • Providing supervision and performance evaluation of all administrative staff
  • Reviewing and approving contracts
  • Reviewing and approving grant applications and reports
  • Overseeing organizational expenses, including payroll and billpay
  • Overseeing marketing and communication efforts
  • Chairing the Performance and Quality Improvement and Risk Management committees
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s and above) in a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in leading or senior management of a nonprofit organization
  • Transparent and high-integrity leadership
  • Knowledge of management principles of nonprofit organizations, experience in managing budgets and staff
  • Proven success working with a board of directors
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, delegation, program development, and task facilitation
  • Confident public speaker with the ability to convey AV41’s strategic vision and mission to a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relationships unique to the nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with community mental health programs (preferred)
  • Experience with programs that serve youth or young adults with complex trauma (preferred)
  • 2 years of of BRS program management experience (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
