Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Research Security Office, within the Division of Research, is looking for an upper class undergraduate student to assist in the development of a WWW crawler for a specific project. The project anticipates multiple phases. First, is to write a basic crawler using Python scripts which, based on a list of keywords, would retrieve information in both English and key foreign languages. Second, is refinement with the addition of a weighting algorithm based on provided criteria. Continuing phases anticipate improvements to capabilities by using better learning methods to improve the information gather. The project is anticipated to run the duration of the Spring 2024 semester and will involve a maximum of 10 hours per week.

Education:
- Must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior at the University of Maryland, College Park in good standing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to code in Python and other programming languages.
