Job SummaryProvides leadership, direction, and administration of all aspects of the hospital to meet established objectives regarding reputation and image, quality, scope of services and technology, geographic focus, approach to competition, medical staff relations and development, employee relations and development, and financial position. The President/CEO provides favorable public relations, negotiates for improvement of hospital buildings and equipment, and coordinates activities of medical staff with those of other departments.

Job SpecificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MHA/MBA/MS in hospital administration, health care administration or equivalent educational experience. At least five years of proven progressive experience in health care administration at a senior executive level.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the fundamentals of hospital organization and administration, standards, and relationships of hospitals, and laws applicable to hospital operations. Must have knowledge of public administration, public relations, and functions of all departments, and must be able to apply principles of human resources management. Knowledge of the community, region, and state and their major constituencies and leaders is preferred.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS:-
Understanding and ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software.

Visual acuity required to adequately access, read, understand, prepare, and present written and on-line material.

Sound interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, problem solving, and customer service skills necessary to respond and satisfy customers exhibiting high stress behaviors is required.

Ability to communicate effectively and concisely with all members of the interdisciplinary care team, accurately transmitting and receiving on-line, verbal and telephone communications.

Ability to remain calm and courteous while working in stressful situations.

Must possess extensive ability to communicate verbally and in written form with people of varying backgrounds and education, to direct and influence the activities of others, to effectively express ideas and views when speaking to groups, hospital Leaders, medical staff, board members, and other personnel.

Numerical ability is required to evaluate statistical data and to make various computations in planning hospital operations and budget.

Activities involving esteem of others is required in order to lead professional and non-professional workers and to participate in community activities.

Organizational ability to plan and control the activities of one or more departments.

Capacity to relate to people in a manner to win confidence and establish support.

Ability to evaluate reports, research studies, and other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria.

Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and to the various details of the job. Must not be overly concerned about “being liked” or “winning popularity contests.”

Ability to set priorities, organize work, and manage time effectively.

Must display a high level of maturity, sound judgment, and independent decision-making skills.

Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
