Join our Behavioral Health Services team as a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) RN at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and you will be part of a team comprised of licensed mental health professionals and RNs with a broad range of skills and experience delivering exceptional patient care.
As RN, Substance Use Disorder, you will:
* Act in the role of consultant to the physicians and nurses caring for the patient.
* Complete a substance use assessment and evaluate risk for withdrawal.
* Provide recommendations to MDs regarding effective withdrawal management.
* Utilize motivational techniques designed to engage patient in treatment activities.
* Provide direct patient care, observation, and management of SUD patients.
* Assessment, plan and implement care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes.
* Takes primary responsibility for the patients' care as delivered by the Care Team.
* Manage de-escalation of behavioral disturbances.
* Provide in-services and education to nursing staff as to the care of the detoxing patient.
* Act as a community referral resource to all Scripps patients who call for treatment recommendations.

Required Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of RN chemical dependency experience preferred
- Current CA RN License
- Certified Addiction Registered Nurse - CARN - Must obtain within 1 year of employment
- Excellent communication, problem solving and planning skills
- BLS from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years' RN experience within substance abuse
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
- Certified Addiction Registered Nurse - CARN
