Full job description

Responsible, at the state level for the development, execution and monitoring of a diversified, comprehensive outreach plan aligned with MADD’s strategic plan. Ensures effective growth in brand awareness, volunteer capacity, and fund development through core strategies which are committed to fulfilling MADD’s mission. This includes but is not limited to: MADD special events and campaigns, public relations and awareness, social media, event promotion, and fundraising initiatives. Providing direction and coordination for all volunteer functions. Develop community relationships to promote volunteer and funding opportunities.

 

This is a remote, work from home position, but the selected candidate must reside in the Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham, Wilmington or Fayetteville, NC general area.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for creative and logistical aspects of events to ensure efficiencies, deadlines and adherence to budget. Ensure that MADD follows all regulatory requirements for conducting the event, including proper logo and branding, and timely filing or submission of permits/applications/fees.
  • Create and implement community outreach plans to build awareness of events. Identify, solicit and cultivate individual donors and businesses/corporations to secure monetary and in-kind sponsorships and donations as appropriate to the event.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community leaders, potential donors, and key stakeholders to expand MADD's presence in the state.
  • Manage the local social media channels and local madd.org site, ensuring consistent and engaging content.
  • Create and implement comprehensive media strategy campaign to increase awareness of MADD's initiatives, campaigns, and events in the state.
  • Develop, implement, and manage special events to achieve defined objectives. Assist in the development of strategic, financial, and operational goals annually and for each event.
  • Establish a volunteer recruitment plan to assure adequate volunteer resources for all event activities. Cultivate, train, and manage volunteer staff and committees to assist with programs and events.
  • Plan, schedule and conduct new volunteer orientation and training. Provide appropriate tools (job descriptions, handbooks, manuals etc.) and ensure volunteers understand MADD’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with three to four years of proven results in fundraising and/or special event planning/management required and one to two years coordinating volunteers, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Some travel and flexible hours necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills, be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and execute in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly, logically and concisely both orally and in writing, using appropriate grammar and command of the English language.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to work on a timetable, meet deadlines, follow instructions and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a high activity level.
  • Must have exceptional internal and external customer service orientation.
  • Must have demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook and be familiar with entering data into on-line systems. Should also have basic record keeping and math skills.
  • Ability to maintain social, ethical and organizational standards in job related activities, at work and in the community.
  • Ability to maintain workplace confidentiality and take ownership/accountability for own actions and aspects of the job.
