Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Director of Finances, the Business Operations Manager will be an integral member of the Departments Business Office and will be responsible for the oversight of many of its’ day-to-day business activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.

Experience:
  • Three to five years of related experience in the areas of procurement, travel, and accounting.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in the areas of procurement, travel and accounting, account management, and computerized accounting systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work independently and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal skills, good time management, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Committed to providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Working knowledge of federal regulations regarding fiscal management of federal funds such as Uniformed guidelines, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Working experience in higher education, experience at UMD is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of university software tools and/or systems such as Concur, KFS Workday as well as BA4 (Accounting Shadow System)
  • Knowledge of UMD Travel and Purchasing Card Policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of OMB’s Uniform Guidance and completion of the Office of Research Administration’s Certificate Program.
  • Knowledge of USMF and UMCPS policies and procedures.
