ABOUT IMAN:

The Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a community organization that fosters health, wellness and healing in the inner-city by organizing for social change, cultivating the arts, and operating a holistic health center.

IMAN incorporated as a nonprofit in 1997 through the drive of people directly affected by and deeply invested in social issues affecting communities of color living on Chicago’s South Side. Since that time, IMAN has steadily grown and, in 2016, opened a second office in Atlanta to continue mobilizing a cross-section of people committed to this mission.

The organization models an integrative approach that employs holistic interventions to address a spectrum of structural and systemic injustices, incorporating primary and behavioral health; artistic expression; leadership development; organizing and advocacy; housing; and job training, in an effort to substantially increase the quality of life for people in marginalized communities.

OVERVIEW:

The Director of Programs works closely with the Chief Director of Programs in leading the

newly formed Department of Programs at IMAN. This role will be responsible for driving the development, implementation, oversight, strategic planning and evaluation of all IMAN programming, outreach and organizing campaigns, while maintaining high standards of program quality, impact, and accountability. The Director of Programs works closely with senior leadership in ensuring that programs are achieving optimal impact and align with the organization’s goals and objectives.

The Director of Programs provides intentional and consistent support to program leadership to implement best practices and achieve strategic goals. Success in this role will require a deep knowledge of program design, data collection to guide practice and experience working to

construct new programming and refine existing high quality programs. The Director of Programs will also provide oversight of supporting emerging and evolving departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership and Management:

  • Lead program design, implementation, and evaluation for efficiency and effectiveness within budget.
  • Develop data systems for assessment, analysis, and reporting, while overseeing daily administrative tasks and staffing structures.
  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of programmatic initiatives to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide overall direction and oversight to program managers and staff, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and effective program delivery.
  • Monitor program activities and outcomes, conducting regular evaluations to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and promote continuous learning.

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Collaborate with CPD and program directors to develop and implement strategic plans for organizational programs, ensuring alignment with overall objectives and facilitating quarterly compliance to strategic goals for long-term sustainability and impact.
  • Drive innovation and excellence in program design and delivery, incorporating best practices and emerging trends in the field.

Team Development and Leadership:

  • Support CPD in overseeing supporting and emerging departments/programs, providing mentorship and guidance to cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and inter-departmental collaboration for effective program delivery.
  • Facilitate professional development through departmental and organization-wide training initiatives, ensuring compliance with objectives and serving as a liaison for consultation activities.
  • Participate actively as a key member of the program department leadership team, contributing to departmental meetings, administrative tasks, and assuming senior leadership duties in the CPD's absence.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and development of program staff, providing mentorship and guidance to enhance individual and team performance.

Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the finance team, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with funding requirements.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities through grant writing, donor relations, and partnerships to support programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior program directors and finance to develop and manage program budgets, staffing levels, and resources to optimize performance and achieve outcomes.
  • Conduct cost and productivity analyses, and strategize resource generation through contract and grant proposals to ensure alignment with programmatic goals.

Funding and Grant Management:

  • Support the Development Department in identifying funding opportunities, preparing and writing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements, collaborating with stakeholders and the Development Department.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Executive Office to refine IMAN’s narrative, shaping and reviewing proposals, grants applications, and other writing projects for fundraising efforts.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, partners, beneficiaries, and community members, to ensure program success and sustainability.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events to promote programmatic achievements, build partnerships, and advocate for the organization's mission.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Establish and implement program evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of programs.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, board members, funders, and other stakeholders on program outcomes, achievements, and challenges.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Collaborate with senior program compliance managers to ensure adherence to regulations, policies, and grant requirements, while developing and administering service program protocols to uphold quality standards.
  • Establish performance metrics, monitor systems, and evaluate frameworks for tracking program impact, ensuring accountability and promoting a culture of innovation within IMAN’s programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the risk management team to identify and mitigate risks that may impact program delivery or organizational goals, proactively addressing challenges and adapting strategies as needed.

Integration of programming:

  • Ensure all programs are integrated within IMAN’s holistic model of health, wellness, and healing utilizing a healing-centered approach.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five years supervising manager and director level staff.
  • Minimum of eight years creating, implementing, and monitoring programming fordiverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leadership and management in program development and implementation, preferably in the nonprofit or public sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, performance metrics, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to integrate these principles into program design, implementation, and evaluation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
