The part-time Specialist, Adult Education supports students in the Santa Fe College Adult Education program.

 

Job Description

Duties consist of instructing students at a wide variety of academic and career readiness levels to prepare for further educational training, GED testing, and careers as appropriate. Duties also include recruiting for the program and assisting the coordinator in collecting and compiling data for program entry and state reporting.

The part-time Specialist, Adult Education is expected to work a flexible schedule and may be assigned teaching duties at SF's main Northwest campus or at any of the College's six educational centers in the day or the evening.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver instruction to students based on curriculum guidelines and career content.
  • Work with students and staff in Career Pathways Programs.
  • Go into the community to recruit for the program.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Keep timely student attendance and progress records.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain accurate records such as attendance, grading and achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Honor student confidentiality and privacy as per appropriate laws, regulations and college rules.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Professor, Academic Resources Adult Education

Qualifications

Required: A Bachelor's degree in any field.  

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred:  Experience instructing diverse populations and computer skills are preferred.

  • Organization & Time Management - able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks related to the job to achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.
  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal - highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
