Full job description

This position serves as the liaison for students, faculty, staff and the OCCC Campus community on issues related to Disability Support Services and assures compliance with the Americans with Disability Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; determines if a declared disabled student needs accommodations; provides technical support if applicable; communicates accommodation needs to faculty as needed; stays current with legal requirements; and supervises assigned staff.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s degree

Two (2) years of full time work experience in Disability Support Services or similar area.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
ADA laws and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act;
Supervisory principles; and
Disability services.
Skills:
Collaborating and coordinating with others.

Abilities:
To appropriately apply use of adaptive technology.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the various campuses.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, administration, and others to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to move or lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in a relatively safe and secure office work environment.
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.

Work is performed during office hours with some evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4)+ years of full time work experience in Disability Support Services.
Required Training
Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training
Work Hours
Monday – Thursday 9am – 6pm and Friday 8am – 5pm; evenings and weekends as needed.
Summer hours Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 6pm June 3 – July 26.
