Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The University of Maryland (UMD) Center on Aging seeks applicants for a full-time Data Analyst position. The analyst will support data analysis on several NIH-funded research projects using large-scale datasets within the Department of Health Policy & Management at the School of Public Health. The position is based in College Park, Maryland. This is a 12-month position with an annual contract renewal based on performance. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The appointment will begin at a mutually agreeable time in Spring/Summer 2025.

- Data management and cleaning of large datasets, including CMS claims data and Census;
- Conducting exploratory analysis and visualization; developing/applying statistical or econometric models for health policy analysis;
- Assisting with writing manuscripts, grant proposals, and other reports;
- Assisting with data applications; and performing other related work as needed.
- This position requires the incumbent to exercise analysis and independent judgment in working with campus partners to ensure that data methods are consistent with federal, State, and university regulations.

Education:
- A Master’s degree in biostatistics, public health, health services research, economics, epidemiology, or related field.
Experience:
- Experience working with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) claims data and diverse data sets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilties:
- Candidates demonstrate strong quantitative skills in data management and statistical analysis using software like SAS, Stata, Python, or R.
- Must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of research methodologies using statistical and research-related software.
- Strong problem-solving, verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interpret and present data findings to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment, including adapting to changing situations, demands, priorities, and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and also collaboratively within basic guidelines and parameters and with minimal supervision.
- Performing other related work as needed.

The University of Maryland, School of Public Health, on the College Park campus, comprises the Departments of Behavioral and Community Health; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Family Science; Global, Environmental, and Occupational Health; Health Policy and Management; and Kinesiology.
