MECC is located in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Mountain Empire Community College invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach CPR and First Aid in the Workforce Solutions Division. Salary is based on the academic preparation and work experience of the applicant and is determined according to the VCCS Adjunct Pay Schedule and market values.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom or online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Teaching Effectiveness, Academic Preparation, and/or Related Occupational Experience requirements based upon criteria in the VCCS-29: Normal Minimum Criteria for Each Faculty Rank.
- Must demonstrate ability to deliver coursework electronically in an online environment and utilizing multiple teaching strategies as well as in-person instruction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Current AHA BLS Instructor Certification.
- Two years of experience teaching Basic Life Support and First Aid in a healthcare or academic environment.
- Ability to align coursework with the MECC training site requirements.
