Research Assistant

Job Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics is seeking a casual, hourly Research Assistant to work on a project funded by the National Institute on Aging’s IMPACT Collaboratory to reduce medication burden for older adults with cognitive impairment, called ALIGN: Aligning Medications with What Matters Most. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Research Program Manager, the Research Assistant will support research activities by engaging in recruitment efforts of patients and care partners and data collection. The Research Assistant will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator, Project Manager, and other research team members in a research environment. The Research Assistant will further research skills by writing abstracts, collaborating on manuscripts, presenting at scientific conferences, and ensuring effective communication and coordination with the Principal Investigator and Project Manager to support recruitment efforts, data entry, and high-quality control standards.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient screening via chart reviews.
  • Collaborate with a printing company to coordinate mailing of recruitment letters and study materials.
  • Assist in recruitment of participants over the phone.
  • Provide scheduling support for study patients to clinic staff.
  • Administer outcome measures via phone or patient portal (MyChart).
  • Collect and enter data into REDCap, and extract pre-specified EHR variables (i.e., implementation outcomes).
  • Conduct qualitative interviews (in English), and code and analyze qualitative data.
  • Attend project team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the project.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous research experience, particularly working with human participants preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($24,650 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Casual / On Call 
Schedule: M-F 8 Hour Shifts - Variable 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
