Description

Responsible for the management of the Human Resources function including hiring and employee benefits. Responsible for all employee records including both computerized and manual archived systems. Processes payroll. Responsible for all interaction with EEOC and OCR.

Duties

 

  • Human Resources
  • Advertises/posts employment opportunities and gathers applications and documents from candidates
  • Organizes hiring committees with the search committee chair
  • Makes hiring recommendation to President based on committee’s decision
  • Communicates with all applicants at the end of the selection process
  • Maintain employee personnel files consisting of employment contracts, tax withholding forms, employment eligibility verification (I-9) forms, drug free and sexual harassment policy acknowledgement forms, and other necessary forms depending on status of employment
  • Establish procedures and provide guidance on proper classification of employees
  • Monitor time tracking system for non-exempt employees, regarding overtime and compensatory pay
  • Prepares all contracts, at will agreement and teaching agreement
 

  • Benefits
  • Provide new employees with information on enrollment procedures for retirement, state health insurance, state life insurance, dental insurance, and cafeteria plan enrollment. This information should include premium rates schedules, enrollment rights, eligibility requirements and other information that can be provided to help the employee understand the benefits
  • Attend state seminars in order to maintain a working knowledge of insurance and retirement procedures
  • Notify employees of open enrollment periods and changes to benefits
  • Audit payroll general ledger liability accounts and reconcile insurance billings and make changes as needed for additions and terminations
  • Process the required COBRA continuation letters upon termination of employment
  • Provide guidance to employees in completing applications for retirement benefits and retiree insurance
 

  • Other Duties
  • Process claims for worker’s compensation injury or illness
  • Prepare and enter general ledger adjusting entries as needed
  • Process all payroll
  • Process W2’s and 1095C’s
  • Prepare and transmit State and Federal Tax Deposits and Form 941
  • Prepare all relevant monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting
  • Prepare and submit unemployment reports
  • Prepare and submit PERS reports
 

  • EEOC and OCR
  • Ensures that the institution is knowledgeable of and in compliance with federal regulations protecting individuals on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, and disability status, as required by the Department of Education and the Department of Justice;
  • Gathers information and works with the Board Attorney to respond to any EEOC request for information or complaint.

 

Qualifications and Required Documents

 

Education:

Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
 

Skills:

General accounting skills are a plus

Work Experience include required number of years documented experience in a comparable/related position:

5 years of HR experience is required

Other Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications: familiarity with Colleague system, SHRM Certification, and
knowledge of SACSCOC standards
