Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a President/CEO in Anaheim, CA.

The President/CEO leads the affiliate and has overall responsibility for day-to-day management and operations. The President/CEO’s key areas of responsibilities are strategy and organizational development, programs and operations administration, financial health and operations, advocacy and collaboration, healthcare education and outreach, staff leadership and management, and board relations. The President/CEO will be responsible for working collaboratively and effectively with the Planned Parenthood national office, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). The President/CEO will be responsible for addressing issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) within organizational culture, practices, and policies. The President/CEO is under the general supervision of the Board of Directors. The President/CEO carries out the policies of the Board of Directors and keeps the Board informed about all matters related to the operation of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC).

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s Degree in business or public health administration or equivalent in experience is highly preferred.

 

Minimum Work Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in progressive senior management roles in non-profit health care or human services organizations.
  • Experience in C-suite position (i.e, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer) preferred.
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of negotiating to provide services in a managed care environment.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and donor relations.
  • Experience with building strong relationships with underserved populations, such as youth, LGBTQ+, and communities of color.

 

Supervisory Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability as an effective leader including coaching and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in training and development of executive-level staff.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Budgeting experience.
  • Financial management, including oversight of investments.
  • Excellent strategic planning skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.

Strategy and Organizational Development

  • Lead planning, development, implementation, and updates of strategic plans that maximize the affiliate’s ability to achieve its mission.
  • Lead the Board of Directors and staff members to develop a shared vision and strategic direction.
  • Evaluate and report on results and revise strategies as necessary.
  • Develop opportunities for affiliate to update its services and/or develop new lines of business.
  • Seek out and develop innovative partnerships that will enable the affiliate to make an impact on sexual health, reproductive rights, and health equity in the region.
  • Ensure that the affiliate’s operations are ethical and consistent with its mission, vision, and core values.

 

Programs and Operations Administration

  • Responsible for the day to day operation of PPOSBC and the supervision of staff, assure adequate and appropriate staffing to carry out agency programs, ultimately responsible for hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions and termination of staff.
  • Assure, in conjunction with the Medical Director, that the medical programs of PPOSBC provide exceptional, quality care to patients and conform to national and state requirements and the precepts of sound medical practice. Analyze service needs of clients and the community and propose and implement new medical services as approved by the Board.
  • The PPOSBC President/CEO is also the official administrator for each health center under CCR and CDPH guidelines.

 

Financial Health and Operations

  • Ensure operational excellence, with consistent and sufficient revenue streams to fund operations and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure that resources are well-managed to support current and future operations.
  • Ensure that PPOSBC maximizes reimbursement rates from payers for healthcare services.
  • Develop and implement a philanthropic fundraising strategy; foster a culture of philanthropy across PPOSBC.
  • Ensure clear fundraising plans with annual targets and detailed revenue development activities.
  • Engage personally and cultivate strong relationships with donors including individuals, foundations, partner organizations, and external agencies.
  • Provide strategic leadership for capital and other long-term fundraising campaigns.
  • Provide general oversight for special fundraising events.

 

Advocacy and Collaboration

  • Represent PPOSBC professionally and dynamically in local, regional, and national communities, helping to advance strategic public policy advocacy. Assure that Planned Parenthood has a strong, positive public affairs presence in the community on issues identified as priorities by the Board.
  • Provide strategic leadership for external relations including media relations, community relationships, and marketing.
  • Ensure that PPOSBC’s mission, vision, core values, and programs are represented in an accurate and compelling manner to clients, government representatives, funders, partners, other agencies, and the general public. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization in the community on issues relating to sexuality, family planning, birth control, and other issues of interest to the affiliate.
  • Assure that the community education and community relations programs of PPOSBC are relevant to community needs and interests and provided in a professional manner consistent with the priorities and positions established by the Board of Directors.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to increase resources and engage in opportunities that advance PPOSBC and its mission.
  • Participate in selected community activities on behalf of Planned Parenthood.

 

Healthcare Education and Outreach

  • Oversee development and delivery of all healthcare services and education programs, ensuring that they address community needs and fulfill PPOSBC’s mission.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current trends in education, family planning, healthcare, and sexual and reproductive health services.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, services, and business operations in cooperation with partners; oversee changes as needed.

 

Staff Leadership and Management

  • Make informed, timely decisions that align with the organization’s strategic goals and long-term vision. Assess risks and benefits to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Exhibit a calm and composed demeanor and a measured approach in all interactions, particularly during high-pressure situations. Serve as a role model for maintaining professionalism and stability.
  • Support a highly effective senior leadership team and work environment that fosters commitment, productive engagement, teamwork, and growth. Lead efforts to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the organization.
  • Ensure that PPOSBC’s organizational culture, practices, decision-making, and policies promote and embody diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Lead the Senior Leadership Committee of PPOSBC’s executives and support their ongoing development. Hire, develop, and remain diverse and well-qualified senior staff leaders.
  • Manage organizational change processes with attention to relationships and results.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and integrity for self and all staff members; foster high levels of community and transparency across the organization.

 

Board Relations

  • Support the Board of Directors in carrying out its policy-making responsibilities and assure that the policies established by the Board of Directors are implemented and followed.
  • Support the Board of Directors in its long-range planning function and organize the work of Planned Parenthood / Orange & San Bernardino Counties, Inc., (PPOSBC) to meet the goals established by the Board.
  • Assist the Board in developing strategies and responses to deal with public affairs issues at the local, state, national and international levels.
  • Support and assist the Board in accomplishing or exceeding its annual fund-raising goal.
  • Work to engage board members as supporters and thought partners, effectively utilizing their time and talents to advance PPOSBC’s mission and priorities.:

Pay: $500,000.00 - $750,000.00 per year
