Job Summary

The University of Michigan's Center for Global Health Equity was launched by a catalytic gift from Dr. Tachi and Leslie Yamada, and was generously matched by the University. The Center brings together faculty and students from across the U-M community, leveraging expertise from multiple disciplines in pursuit of novel solutions to global health challenges that can positively impact individuals in low-income settings.

The Financial Specialist reports to and partners with the Managing Director to provide financial support for the Center and ensure its strong fiscal health. The Finance Specialist works closely with the Project Manager (for budgets) and plays a key role in advising Center Leadership on the alignment of resources with core services, signature funding programs, and educational and research opportunities that support a diverse group of U-M faculty members and collaborators. The successful candidate will be able to work independently; build strong collaborative relationships both within U-M and with our international partners; perform at a consistently high level under pressure; demonstrate outstanding customer service, organizational and technical skills; and exercise sound judgment to meet the unique needs of various activities within the Center.

This position is eligible for flexible (i.e., hybrid) work arrangements. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change based on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. In addition to the regular in office workdays/hours, there will be additional times, some early morning and/or evening hours that require working on-site for events. The Center's offices are located on north campus in NCRC Building 100.

Additional Information

The final salary will be based upon the selected candidate's education and experience.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
