Job Description

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for Various research positions to support our government customer located in San Diego, California.

  • Senior Medical Editor - bachelor's degree in English or a related field, 10 years of experience in the areas of writing and preparing medical, technical, and scientific documents.
  • Junior Medical Editor - bachelor's degree; 2 years of DoD experience may be submitted in lieu of a bachelor's degree. 3 years' experience with editing medical and scientific documentation for publication. Strong skills to critically review, independently edit, format, and synthesize various types of input (verbal, notes, emails, drafts) into a cohesive document or correspondence in accordance with the Navy Correspondence Manual, Official Navy Message Traffic, and other format policies. 3 years of experience working in military environment with military technical documents including point papers, policies, and messages.
  • Senior Administrative Services Manager (IRB Administator) - bachelor's degree in life sciences or health psychology. 5 years of Institutional Review Board (IRB) review experience of military medical R&D activities is required. Certification as a Certified IRB professional (CIP), 2 years relevant experience can be submitted in lieu of CIP certification. 3 years of experience in reviewing and/or running R&D studies. Sound knowledge of medical terminology, clinical research processes, and IRB submission/filing guidelines. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Effective organizational and analytical skills. Proficient with Windows based computer systems including MS Office.
  • Junior Administrative Services Manager (IRB Specialist) - bachelor's degree in life sciences or health psychology. Certification as a Certified IRB professional (CIP) required. 2 years IRB staff experience. Sound knowledge of medical terminology, clinical research processes, and IRB submission/filing guidelines. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Effective organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, proactively and in a team environment. Proficient with Windows based computer systems including MS Office.
  • Junior Research Administrative Professional - bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, psychology, community health nursing or a health-related profession. 2 years of experience in a health research environment. 1 year experience with grant requests and research administration. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Possess highly effective organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, proactively, and in a team environment. Proficient with Windows based computer systems, administrative databases, and MS Office.
  • Public Relations Specialist - bachelor's degree in media design, digital media, interactive media or a related field. (2 years of DoD experience may be submitted in lieu of a bachelor's degree). 3 years' experience in multimedia design, graphic design environment. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and other Creative Suite applications, Apple Final Cut, or other video editing tools. Proficiency with SharePoint as a platform for web hosting.
  • Senior Scientist and Science Technician - PhD in one of the following: exercise physiology, nutrition, health education, health promotion, public health, community health, community health nursing or a health-related profession. 5 years of experience with strategic communications, planning, and change management. 5 years of experience designing and implementing research plans. Proficiency in the entire research process from project design through data analyses and presentation/publication of results. 5 years of experience with designing, facilitating, and conducting stakeholder analysis, focus groups, and interviews. 5 years of experience with gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and developing reports and recommendations. 5 years of experience with providing stakeholder relationship administration, branding and project management.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and FBI fingerprint check.
