Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Software Engineer provides technical expertise and direct support to staff in Conferences & Visitor Services and the Department of Resident Life. This role focuses on the technical operation of the StarRez Housing and Conference Management System and custom software development, including databases, mobile apps, full-stack web applications, and system integrations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience:
  •  0-2 years.
  • Minimum of one year in programming for direct delivery of programs or services to a client base is required.
  • Minimum of one year work experience with ASP.NET, C#, and SQL or equivalent is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to interact with non-technical employees and with student employees in order to sustain a collaborative programming setting is required.
  • Ability to follow through on multiple and often simultaneous projects and work under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, web application development, web service development, Jira, agile development, Git, GitHub, REST APIs, and database design and development is preferred.
  • Work experience in a college or university setting is preferred.

  • Benefits include tuition remission, retirement programs, and health insurance.
  • Staff are provided 22 days of annual leave, 14-15 paid holidays, 15 days of sick leave and 3 days of personal leave each year.
  • Some telework may be available as determined by department expectations and position needs.
  • Salary range is $70,000 – $73,000.

Conditions of Employment and Physical Demands of the Position

Normal office environment – Sedentary work. Occasionally needs to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50lbs. Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties. Evening and weekend work on a variable basis is required. Some telework may be available as determined by department expectations and position needs. This is not a remote position, as the employee will need to report to campus to attend to duties.
