Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Public Affairs will work closely with Chief Public Affairs Officer andNorth America VP/GM'sfor CTS in the development and execution of all public relations and government relations strategy and activity for their assigned territory, including media communications, issue management, information dissemination and strategic communications advice. This person will take the leading role in shaping the narrative for CTS by partnering with business development teams on government relations involvement and interaction.This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert in public relations and government relations for all CTS NAM businesses.
  • Responsible for building and leading a team of public relations/government relations managers.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of government relations and public relations strategies, including building strong relationships with agencies key for Cubic's Transpiration business.
    • Initiates, develops, and implements communications plans and programs, both internally and externally. Develops and manages the timeline and all logistics for each communications program. Ensures continuity of consistent image and message.
    • Sets strategy surrounding external social media and web-based communication strategies.
  • Development, preparation and release of newsworthy information.
  • Briefs executive management prior to interviews and provides public relations counsel to management during interviews.
  • Manages and establishes relationships with outside public relations, government relations, counsel and other pertinent agencies as needed, continuously supervises and appraises their performance providing active feedback to the CPAO.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in journalism, public relations, or communications plus a minimum of15+ yearsrelated experience in communications and public relations.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in government relations and working with large government and municipal agencies strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex issues affecting the company.
  • Experience required developingcommunications/publicrelations plans and recommend actions.
  • Ability to manage people and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Must be available for travel monthly domestically (possibly foreign travel if needed).

Other Expectations for the role:

  • Excellent writing and public speaking skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively including public forums and with the media.

  • Strong understanding of government processes, public policy, and media relations.

Cubic Pay Range:

$140k - $300k* + benefits.

*Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
