Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Patient Advocacy and Alliance Relations function advances patient care and outcomes by serving as a conduit between the patient community and the company, providing resources for the education and activation of the patient community around precision oncology and ensuring the needs and perspectives of cancer patients are incorporated into corporate initiatives for all Precision Oncology products.

The Precision Oncology Patient Advocacy Intern will support cross-functional tasks throughout all four major focus areas of the Patient Advocacy team (Education, Health Equity, Public Policy and Patient Perspectives). This position will assist in supporting our strategic goals by providing programmatic support, project management and administrative support of patient advocacy efforts. The position is intended to be a full-time opportunity over the course of the summer (HR specify dates - begin May) for an undergraduate student to obtain professional development and experience by contributing to the company's effort in guiding personalized cancer treatments to patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop a patient advocacy group profile library to support relationship management across our portfolio of patient advocacy partnerships and serve as a resource for cross-functional internal stakeholders.
  • Provide program management and administrative support for our Voice of the Patient program, created to incorporate the patient voice into our clinical studies. Duties will include, but not be limited to, tracking, meeting attendance and note-taking, compiling feedback and contract support.
  • Assist the Patient Stories Manager in fulfilling patient stories requests (internal/external) and updating program management resources to support the Patient Ambassador program.
  • Provide support for the Exact Sciences Employee Cancer Survivors Inclusion Network (EIN) by researching and posting relevant content, developing strategies for member engagement, and supporting events by the EIN.
  • Provide programmatic support for the creation of a Precision Oncology Kit Donation program.
  • Participate in appropriate cross-functional meetings

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately less than 1% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 90-100% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Travel Requirements including the ability and means to travel between locations
  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate college program (sophomore through junior) with focus/degree in one of the following areas: Public Health, Health or Life Sciences, Communications.
  • Ability to organize, present, and convey problems or issues.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office (Word - generate documents and tables, Excel - create and modify spreadsheets and create complex formulas and PowerPoint); Email - preferably Outlook; and various search engines for conducting Internet searches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to interface and work effectively within team and department with changing priorities.
  • Analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Salary Range:

$34,000.00 - $54,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis, and may differ by hiring location.
