This leadership role will report directly to the President/CEO and will be pivotal in shaping a forward-thinking, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture. The VP of HR will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while driving strategic human resources initiatives to support LifeWorks NW's mission of delivering high-quality mental health, addiction, and social services.
The Vice President of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and operational management of all Human Resources (HR) functions and initiatives. Ensures the organization complies with state and federal HR regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Provide visionary leadership and oversight to the HR team, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and collaboration. Mentor HR staff and ensure effective delivery of all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development.
- Employee Engagement & Retention: Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention, building a workplace where staff feel supported, valued, and motivated to contribute to Lifeworks NW's mission.
- Employee & Labor Relations: Oversee labor relations and employee relations, including union negotiations, resolving grievances, and maintaining a collaborative labor environment. Address legal issues in consultation with the President/CEO and legal advisors.
- Policy Development: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, including compensation, performance appraisal, and compliance with employment laws.
- HRIS & Data Management: Oversee the HRIS system, ensure accurate employee data tracking, and collaborate with Finance on benefits administration.
- Budget Management: Manage the HR budget to ensure cost-effective allocation of resources while supporting key HR initiatives.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Partner with the Vice President of Equity, Inclusion, and Workforce Development to advance DEI initiatives, ensuring equitable HR practices that reflect our diverse staff and community.
- Change Management: Collaborate with leadership on organizational changes, promoting effective internal communication and a smooth transition during restructuring or staff changes.
- Professional Development: Work closely with leadership to create opportunities for staff training and professional growth, reinforcing Lifeworks NW's commitment to ongoing education and skill development.
Qualifications:
- 5 years in a management position with an organization of 500 employees.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Human/Social Services, or a related field.
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certifications preferred.
- Experience in a not-for-profit, social service, and/or healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience in employee and labor relations, including assisting in union negotiations, administering labor contracts, resolving grievances, and supporting operational changes.
- Experience with personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Regularly talk and hear.
- Communication and culturally competent communication skills.
Work Environment
- This position offers a hybrid working environment. After the first 90 days, the employee may work remotely up to one day per week, subject to approval per our Alternative Work Arrangement policy.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required depending on healthcare system standards.
