Overview: The Association of Ohio Health Commissioners (AOHC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth and influence. AOHC represents the collective voice of health commissioners from across Ohio, advocating for public health policies, initiatives, and resources that promote the well-being of all Ohioans.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors to advance the mission and objectives of AOHC.
- Advocacy and Representation: Serve as the primary advocate and spokesperson for AOHC, engaging with government agencies, legislators, and stakeholders to influence public health policies and legislation.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective administration of programs, events, finances, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Membership Engagement: Foster strong relationships with members, providing support, resources, and opportunities for collaboration and professional development.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage the financial health of the organization, including budgeting, fundraising, and fiscal oversight.
- Partnerships and Collaboration: Cultivate partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and institutions to enhance the impact and reach of AOHC initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in nonprofit management, ideally within a healthcare or public health-related organization. Experience working with boards of directors, managing staff, and leading strategic planning efforts.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, members, and stakeholders.
- Advocacy: A track record of successful advocacy, policy development, and coalition building.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and media relations experience.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree in public health, healthcare administration, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
