Salary Range: Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: Varies based on number of courses taught, exempt.
Required Application Materials:
- Resume/CV which must outline relevant job experience providing subject matter expertise in the classes they feel qualified/interested in teaching, relevant professional certifications, and past collegiate level teaching experience with course number, name, and institution.

- Two letters of reference relative to ability to instruct collegiate courses OR contact information for references.
Essential Functions
The Alvarez College of Business, Department of Accounting is seeking qualified applicants to fill vacancies for the upcoming academic year (Spring 2025, Summer 2025, and Fall 2025). This includes Principles of Accounting I (financial accounting), Principles of Accounting II (managerial accounting), intermediate accounting, accounting information systems, cost accounting, federal income taxation, auditing, and other relevant accounting courses in our Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting or Master's in Accountancy program. Each semester's specific hiring needs vary, but we are always seeking to identify a bench' of adjunct instructors qualified to teach so that we can add sections and instructors as enrollments exceed capacity. Due to accreditation requirements, please note that a terminal degree is highly preferred for graduate course instruction.
Instructors are expected to ensure that critical learning objectives identified by the department chair and course coordinator are met through classroom instruction and instructional materials. Instructors may personalize their course's curriculum to capitalize on their subject matter expertise. Critical thinking and experiential learning should feature prominently in each course. Other tasks include:
- Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires the candidate to teach locally in San Antonio on the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Candidates who are not local will not be considered for this position.
Courses are offered throughout the day, including evening classes that start at 6 pm.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
- Five years of teaching and/or work experience in one or more of the areas of specialization including accounting, tax, and audit.
- The ability to teach locally in San Antonio on the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification includes, but is not limited to, a Certified Public Accountant license, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Enrolled Agent.
- Doctoral degree in accounting, tax or a related field.

Working Conditions
