Your Role: Instrumentation & Controls Technician
As a “B/C” Instrumentation & Controls Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of technological innovation and operational excellence. Your role will involve:
  • Precision Maintenance: Perform essential maintenance, calibration, repairs, testing, and commissioning to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all instrumentation and control devices within the Power Plant Complex.
  • Accuracy and Compliance: Conduct compliance audits and calibrations, guaranteeing that our records and reports are accurate and up to date.
  • Innovation and Upgrades: Make significant repairs or modifications to upgrade current equipment, keeping our facilities on the cutting edge of technology.
  • Emergency Response: Be the hero in emergency situations, implementing corrective measures to ensure continuous operation and safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in testing, troubleshooting, assessing, calibrating, repairing, and commissioning various types of instrumentation and controls, including digital, analog, and pneumatic systems.
  • System Knowledge: Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Discrete Controls: Ability to work with and maintain discrete control systems.
  • Instrumentation Skills: Competence in handling a range of instrumentation including transmitters, transducers, meters, and controllers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Proficiency: High fluency in working with computers, essential for the position’s strong computer utilization demands.
  • Electronics Expertise: Proficiency in both digital and analog electronics.
  • Programming Skills: Ability to program various types of control systems.
  • Logic Circuits: Thorough understanding of logic circuits, including both ladder and statement logic.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading schematics and blueprints.
  • Troubleshooting Ability: Skill in troubleshooting circuits under both normal and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Power Plant Knowledge: Understanding the theory and operation of steam boilers, steam turbines, electric generators, and all related Power Plant equipment.
  • Test Equipment Operation: Ability to operate test equipment, including but not limited to digital multi-meters, analyzers, power supplies, function generators, signal conditioners, oscilloscopes, and logic probes.
  • Desirable Background: Candidates trained in Navy Nuclear Power are highly desirable.
  • Specialized Training: Training and competency with the Emerson Delta V DCS platform.
