Head Coach - Men's Soccer

Job Description

Position Summary

Located 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, nestled in a history-rich community of southern Maryland, The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is a two-time Aspen Award-winning institution (top 15% of Community Colleges) with academic programs in over 100 disciplines. CSM is among America’s top 100 producers of Minority Associate Degrees in twenty categories, according to Diverse Issues in Higher Education.  The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is an Aspen Prize Top 150 Community College. 

College of Southern Maryland is seeking a Head Coach for Men's Soccer to recruit student athletes, hire and supervise coaching staff, and perform coaching duties.
The hours for this position in-season are approximately 20 - 30 hours per week; out of season are approximately 0 - 10 hours per week.  Flexibility is required.   
  
College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the College's staff and students.  The final candidate for this position will be subject to the following background checks:  Criminal History Check.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work within the NJCAA, Region XX, MDJUCO Conference and CSM's policies and procedures.
  2. Recruitment of student athletes of character
  3. Monitor academic progress and participate in the PASS Program (academic support program for athletes)
  4. Hire and supervise the coaching staff
  5. Conduct well-organized practices and provide for the physical conditioning and skill training for each athlete.
  6. Submit team and individual statistics to the Athletic Office by 10:00am every Monday while the sport is in season.
  7. Assist athletes in transferring to four-year colleges.
  8. Work with the equipment manager on the distribution and collection of equipment.
  9. Must attend all coaches’ meetings within the college, conference and region.
  10. Must serve as a positive role model for student athletes.
  11. Must use the dedicated service approach and a high level of respect, tact and courtesy in dealing with student athletes, other coaching staffs, officials, college staff members and members of the community.
  12. Possess good work habits, such as punctuality, attendance, dependability, cooperation and enthusiasm.

Minimum Education and Training

  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Two years coaching experience required, preferably at the collegiate level.
