"Implementing and Evaluating Interventions designed to Address Post-Treatment Physical and Psychological Symptoms in Cancer Populations"
The School of Nursing invites applications for an immediate position as a full-time postdoctoral fellow to join the Wang Lab, a leader in innovative, behavioral intervention research targeting physical and mental health in cancer populations. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for a motivated early-career researcher to engage with state-of-the-art projects that integrate gaming technology and telehealth platforms to promote lifestyle changes and improve quality of life in adults with a history of cancer.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Wang, the postdoctoral researcher will collaborate on federally funded studies with a focus on implementing and evaluating interventions designed to address post-treatment physical and psychological symptoms. Our projects are grounded in Social Cognitive Theory and adaptive exercise principles, aiming to enhance engagement and long-term adherence among cancer survivors. The position offers a comprehensive experience in intervention co-development, advanced data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.
The fellow will be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team that includes experts in psychology, nursing, public health, and gerontology. They will have access to extensive resources within UAB, including the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, and collaborative opportunities across campus.
Responsibilities include:
- Quantitative and recruitment data management for ongoing NIH-funded studies
- Conducting and analyzing quantitative data
- Preparation of conference presentations and travel for dissemination
- Contribution to scientific manuscripts as a lead and co-author
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in nursing or a health-related field obtained within the past two years
- Background in behavioral science, cancer survivorship, or health intervention studies
- Proficiency in data analysis, scientific writing, and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, interdisciplinary environment
- Demonstrated interest and experience in behavioral research on cancer
- Commitment to advancing health disparities within research settings
- Experience managing quantitative data and conducting statistical analyses
