Job Description
Student Business Services seeks an Accountant to provide accounting oversight for Treasury Services Accountant to perform a broad scope of professional accounting functions including preparation of schedules, review monthly financial reports, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, compilations of specialized financial reports, interpretation of financial data and account analysis. Interacts with University departments in regard to processing of financial transactions to ensure compliance with University policy and procedures.
A successful candidate, not presently employed within Financial Services, will be paid a signing bonus of $750 and a $1,250 bonus after completing six months of employment with the department.

Essential Duties
- Prepares reports, statements, and reconciliations utilizing a variety of software.
- Reconciles accounts and interprets accounting data .
- Performs specialized financial analysis.
- Prepares specialized or highly complex reports, statements or analyses for management.
- Reviews statements of accounting information and other reports provided by the university financial system.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations.
- Prepares journal entries and other accounting documents into the University’s financial system.
- Develops queries and reports utilizing the University data warehouse and various financial systems for use by the university community.
- Assists departments with Merchant system integrations.
- Coordinate annual merchant PCI compliance requirements with departments, including training and completion of Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs).
- Assists with testing of university programs to ensure accuracy.
- Works independently under broad direction.
- May provide work direction to other staff.
- Uses effective communication skills..
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field AND one (1) year of professional accounting experience; OR, Five (5) years professional accounting experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in preparing detailed and complex accounting reports, statements and reconciliations utilizing a variety of software.
- Experience with on-line accounting systems.
- Experience in performing complex reconciliations.
- Experience in preparing Excel spreadsheets.
- Experience in using Microsoft office.
- Experience in high volume customer service environment.
- Experience in using Peoplesoft (Oracle) student account system.
- Experience with data warehouse/storage and retrieval systems or other data query software.
- Experience in identifying problems, developing solutions and implement plans.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Experience in a university environment with a general understanding of various financial aid programs.
Working Environment
- Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, calculators, telephones)
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Travel moderate distances to perform work.
- Use hands/fingers for repetitive motions on keyboard.
