Full Job Description

The Associate Director, Professional Education, will develop and oversee the work of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) mental health initiative. This grant-funded position would manage mental health care professional programming, with particular focus on online education offerings, and volunteer committees and advisory groups. The position reports to the Senior Director, Institute of Learning, in the Science & Health Care Division of the Association.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the strategic planning, direction, and development of educational programs within ADA’s learning management system, including user experience, content positioning, and engagement opportunities
  • Participate in instructional design aspects of content development, including maintaining accountability for quality, instructional integrity, and learning outcomes
  • Manage employees who oversee the end-to-end project life cycle of learning programs with rapid turnaround times so that key performance indicators are met successfully
  • Manage planning committees and identify faculty to create programs
  • Cultivate relationships with volunteers and mental health care professional partners to develop content, extend programmatic reach, and identify new areas of opportunity
  • Manage vendor relationships as appropriate
  • Serve as subject matter expert to assist Marketing and Communications team with program promotion strategies
  • Manage post-program analysis, including budget reconciliations
  • Participate in proposal writing and proposal review to secure funding for relevant projects
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of program management experience
  • Experience in developing learning objectives, formulating test questions, and ensuring alignment
  • Proficiency in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) through practical experience and thorough understanding
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams, shifting priorities, and accelerated timelines
  • Experience in learning management systems, instructional design, learning engagement tools, and online platforms for professional education is a plus
  • Experience collaborating with mental health professionals preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to help build and manage team productivity/cohesion. Enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Experience leading national advisory groups and collaborating with senior-level volunteers
  • Exceptional time management skills overseeing multiple concurrent projects in a matrix organization
  • Experience managing budgets and writing financial and grant reports
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes while responding to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based applications
