Job Description
The Accounts Payable Lead is the lead worker responsible for the accounts payable section, its efficient operations, development and implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with all governing entity’s procedures and regulations for the Minneapolis Community and Technical College Procurement Office, Accounts Payable Section.The lead worker position is to coordinate, analyze, approve, monitor, and adjust vendor invoices for input so that payments for college liabilities can be made in a timely and accurate manner. This position is also responsible for overseeing accounts payable activities so that proper procedures are followed and permanent records are kept to ensure compliance with all governing entity’s procedures and regulations for State of Minnesota, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State), SWIFT, and Minneapolis Community & Technical College (Minneapolis College). Accounts payable liabilities include general vendor invoices, special withholding payments, travel and other reimbursements, contractual educational services and state and non-state employee services, etc. The incumbent is directly responsible for permanent payment transaction batch log and vendor files in which invoices and support documents are filed. This position trains co-workers, as directed, in accounts payable tasks and procedures to improve and maintain performance standards.
Minimum Qualifications

Skills in basic financial accounting and the technical skills necessary to carry out the accounts payable processes. This includes the ability to understand units of measure, price per unit, sales tax calculation, payment terms, shipping cost, and vendor discounts.

Ability to use word processing applications to construct spreadsheets, prepare reports, invoices and letters

Knowledge of math (arithmetic) sufficient to complete and accurate financial records, balance and resolve discrepancies, compute and verify totals on reports, requisitions and/or bills

Sufficient in customer services skills to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate, organized and concise information and appropriate responses in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.

Skills sufficient to maintain accurate budget records and reports. Receive and review source documents, compare to database information and check for accuracy, discrepancies and completeness

Ability to perform and learn accounting system policies and procedures in order to sufficiently prepare financial reports, reconcile invoices, receipts and purchase orders

Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities

Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
Work Shift
Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Pay Range
Account Clerk Senior: $21.90 – $29.65 hourly / $45,727 – $61,909 annually.
