Waubonsee Community College is seeking applications for a part-time instructor for Developmental Math courses.
Adjunct Faculty are responsible for providing instruction and assessing student learning through both formative and summative methods. This position requires a professional with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively utilize instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Reporting to the Dean, Adjunct Faculty prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address diverse learning styles and ensure students meet course objectives and outcomes. They incorporate learner-centered principles and concepts, motivating students to actively engage in all aspects of the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for student evaluations and for timely and accurate reporting, such as attendance verifications, academic progress, and final course grades.

Successful Adjunct Faculty employ a holistic approach to student success, bringing passion and enthusiasm to the classroom. They collaborate effectively with students and colleagues and work constructively with individuals from diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities. They demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

For the Spring 2025 term, applicants must have availability and specific experience with one of the following classes (all classes are In-person):

  • MTH 050 Basic Mathematic Skills
  • MTH 068 Algebra Foundations I
  • MTH 069 Algebra Foundations II
  • MTH 107 Basic Statistics & MTH 099 Supplemental (in-person MW 2-3:15 & 3:30-4:20 p.m. also, TTH 6:30-7:45 & 8:00-8:50

 


Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or Math Education from an accredited college REQUIRED.

Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Mathematics

Previous teaching experience in Developmental Math courses.
