Job Description

Job Summary

The Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC) is looking for a skilled professional with expertise in Human Resources (HR) strategy and consulting to help build a new leadership development program. This initiative will aim to address current gaps in leadership development, provide actionable recommendations, and create a culture that fosters high employee engagement and retention.  The ideal candidate for this role should bring a blend of leadership in program management, strong DEI expertise, and a strategic mindset. They will need to be skilled in evaluating workplace culture and employee engagement while fostering an inclusive environment. Additionally, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, both internally and externally, is essential.

Responsibilities*

Leadership Development:
o    Assessing current leadership capabilities and identifying gaps.
o    Designing and implementing targeted leadership training programs.
o    Supporting leadership in their growth and ability to lead teams effectively.


Culture and Employee Engagement:
o    Analyzing the current work culture and identifying areas of improvement.
o    Working with HR and other departments to craft strategies that enhance employee engagement and morale.
o    Advising on best practices to create a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment that encourages collaboration.


Retention Strategies:
o    Developing and executing initiatives to boost employee retention, especially focusing on leadership roles.
o    Consulting on HR policies and practices to ensure they align with goals related to engagement and retention.


Consulting and Collaboration:
o    Providing HR consulting on a broad range of leadership and culture-related issues.
o    Collaborating with senior leadership, HR, and department managers to implement changes effectively.
o    Continuously evaluating the effectiveness of leadership initiatives and culture-building programs.


Metrics and Reporting:
o    Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of the leadership development and culture initiatives.
o    Regularly reporting to leadership about progress, challenges, and successes.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelors degree in business, health services administration, public health or other recognized field of science or learning related to the responsibilities of the position, or equivalent combination of education and training.

Previous relevant experience in project or program management, implementation and evaluation to achieve results on time.

Understanding of systems of oppression, equity, and inclusion.

Experience providing accurate and professional deliverables.

Experience leading learning programs on diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural humility.

Experience implementing assessment tools for measuring culture, climate and employee engagement.

Experience engaging and building relationships with community members.

Proficiency in developing proposals and strategic plans.

Desired Qualifications*

Masters degree or other graduate degree in a related field.

Experience working in academic healthcare or an academic research setting.

Previous experience developing and implementing educational training programs.

Knowledge of University organizational structure and policies; familiarity with the diverse cultures of the schools, colleges, and units of the University.
 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
