Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness in the area Forklift Operations.  Develop curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the competencies addressed in the particular area of Forklift Operations.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop course/program curriculum to address the particular area of instruction.
  2. Prepare lesson plans, course syllabi, and Course Verification Forms.
  3. Keep accurate attendance records.
  4. Submit required paperwork on time.
  5. Participate in in-service training activities offered by the department.
  6. Work a flexible schedule as determined by instructional activities.
  7. Coordinate instructional activities with other faculty/staff in order to plan and promote the most effective instructional programs possible. 
  8. Perform other duties assigned by the Dean, Vice President and/or President.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Five years’ experience in the area of Forklift Operations

  • Forklift Operator License from an accredited institution. 

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree
  • Three years teaching experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to teach the fundamentals of Forklift Operations and administer both writing and driving examinations.
  • Must have extensive knowledge with OSHA Powered industrial trucks and Forklift Training Requirements [29 CFR 1910.178]
  • Must be familiar with OSHA General Industry Regulations (29 CFR 1910 OSHA)
  • Must be ethical when evaluating student outcomes.
  • Must be computer literate – word processing, spreadsheets and Internet.
  • Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with the program staff and participants.
  • Must be knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the academic progress of participants.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm.
  • Must be a self-starter and positive role model.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to instruct and maintain emotional control under stress.
