Adjunct Assistant General Maintenance Mechanic

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Information Technology Manager for Housing Network Systems, this part-time position, working 20 hours per week, will assist the full-time General Mechanic. This position will assist in maintaining the required service level needed for over 400 laundry units in the residence halls and on-campus apartment complexes. Primary responsibilities include repairing, replacing, and performing Preventative Maintenance (PM) on laundry machines. This position will also perform minor cleaning of machines and specific laundry areas.

Required Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of one trade and mechanical aptitude as required by the department
  • Knowledge and ability to operate tools of the trade
  • Willingness to learn new skills and methods
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job, including heavy work with incidental exposure to inclement weather.
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial laundry machines
  • Experience in reading and comprehension of written and illustrative service manuals that include mechanical and electrical diagrams and schematics to support the effective and efficient operation, repair, and Preventative Maintenance of commercial laundry machines
  • Trade or Vocational School
  • Strong customer service skills
  • NH Gas Service License

Salary Information

Salary range: $15 – $20 per hour.
