TITLE: Development Director
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $70,000-$73,000, based on experience
SCOPE:
Responsible for leading all development activities within NAMI Palm Beach County (NAMI PBC). This position develops, implements, and monitors a comprehensive fundraising and development plan that includes expanding philanthropic support, identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individuals leads, and fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship.
The Development Director reports directly to the CEO, works collaboratively with board members and staff, and supervises volunteers. The Development Director represents NAMI PBC in the community and must understand and support the agency's mission, including knowledge of mental illness and recovery, or a willingness to learn about these topics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In coordination with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Development Committees, develop, plan, and execute NAMI PBC's fundraising plan to increase individual and corporate contributions for long- and short-term needs.
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all aspects of the fundraising efforts and participate in organizational strategic planning with leadership team.
- Manage all gift cultivation, solicitation and fundraising efforts including but not limited to annual appeals, mailings, corporate support, major and planned giving, endowed giving, special events, DIY fundraising, capital giving, and in-kind support.
- Work with the CEO and Board leadership on board fundraising, board development, training and retention. Creates funding targets for board members and establish tools to monitor progress towards goals.
- Develop and oversee budgets for all fundraising activities.
- Conducts planning, organization, and implementation, including developing and managing timelines, budget and evaluation of the special events NAMIWalks and the Annual Luncheon, ensuring revenue goals are met. Works collaboratively with fundraising committees and other volunteers to ensure event success. Identifies, quantifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards sponsors for events and programs, and develops and maintains ongoing relationships with contributors, businesses, and major donors.
- Utilizes volunteers and builds volunteer support networks for events and fundraising projects.
- Collects, organizes, and maintains a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received. Perform data entry, gift processing, and timely thank you receipts for all donations.
- Develops content for social media and press around special events and other fundraising initiatives.
- Oversees branding, image, and consistency of messaging in all organization materials.
- Delivers presentations to various community groups and corporations as needed.
- Assumes any other duties as needed and/or assigned by the CEO.
- Willingness to work key fundraising events that occur on weekends.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- BS or BA Degree or 4+ years work experience in nonprofit development
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and maintain community and donor relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Maintain professional and positive image at all times
- Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Solid organization, time management, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality
- Familiarity with social networking content management including Facebook, Instagram, witter, Constant Contact, etc.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently with little supervision Valid Florida Driver's License (this position requires some travel throughout Palm Beach County)
