The Project Coordinator will support U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, SPECIALTY CROPS RESEARCH INITIATIVE project: Labor, Efficiency, Automation, and Production: LEAP Nursery Crops Toward Sustainability CAP 2024-51181-43291. 

Starting Salary is 0.25 Full Time Equivalent of $67,000 starting year 1 with annual increases. The position is for 5 years beginning November 1, 2024 to August 31, 2029, with the possibility, but no obligation, for an extension depending on future grant funds and contracts.

The successful Project Coordinator is expected to assist and support Dr. Anthony LeBude’s research and extension efforts in a highly independent manner. The Project Coordinator will work with multiple international, large and complex research projects and/or programs. Specifically, duties are likely to include but are not restricted to:
  • Primary responsibilities include working with Project Leader (PL) to provide evaluation and advise the efforts of team members implementing program activities. Employee will work with the PL to ensure project deliverables are met or exceeded, budgets are adhered to, and reports are completed on time to granting agencies.
  • Specific activities include independently managing core activities as required including tracking activities and deliverables for project reporting, including annual reports, prioritizing and tracking resource allocation, management of subcontracts; ordering supplies.
  • Manage administrative aspects of the projects and tis sub-awards at other universities; student and staff hiring and support.
  • Organizing activities and travel needs of project members; maintaining project schedules and timelines
  • Publicizing and disseminating resources to stakeholders; working collaboratively with others to develop, organize, and ensure web content is relevant and accessible to website users
  • Organizing meetings, events and training workshops.
  • Providing budgetary support (for example, using WolfReports and Microsoft Excel to monitor expenditures in many different accounts, generating reports based on type of expenditure, person expending funds, or other category, providing advice on managing budgets and expenditures [based on account balances, allowable expenses, and expiration dates], interfacing with Horticultural Science and College of Agriculure and Life Sciences (CALS) business office accounting staff, and interfacing with college-level post-award grant management personnel.
  • Minimal experience coordinating federal grants, specifically USDA projects. Training can be provided.
