Position Summary

The Advising, Counseling, & Support Services Department is recruiting for a  part-time student worker.  This position works to logistically support the VC Counseling Center in the delivery of student-centered support services. This position assists in responding to student inquiries while assisting in fostering an environment of exceptional customer service. This position assists in the supports of events and department activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist with performing office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and responding to student/staff inquiries about counseling services
  2. Assist with campus outreach events related to counseling services
  3. Assist with organization and delivery of counseling related events across campus
  4. Triage student/employee traffic and assist with students with general questions related to counseling services processes and procedures
  5. Serve as the mental health ambassador on campus for counseling and general mental wellness, leading small groups and outreach efforts to increase student awareness of mental health on campus
  6. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Advising & Counseling Directors and staff

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in minimum of 6 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semester and 3 credit hours in the summer
  • English proficiency
  • Demonstrate proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Friendly and professional attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish and meet timelines
  • Team player who is dependable, punctual, organized, and detail oriented
  • Ability to adhere to the highest confidentiality standards on campus
  • Must not be currently utilizing or have utilized VC Counseling Services within the last two years.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while loading event supplies, booth equipment, office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
