Job Description
Position Summary
The Audio Visual and Information Technology Technician is responsible for all technical aspects and scheduling of LBWCC and community events hosted on LBWCC campuses; and, for assisting in the design, installation, maintenance, and support of LBWCC academic labs, library, and faculty and administrative personnel offices.
Salary
Commensurate with experience as determined on Salary Schedule E4, Grade 04 of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees salary schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Information Technology:
- Provide desktop operations support to computer users at the College, including installing new computers and necessary software and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Install, repair, and maintain hardware, software updates, and peripherals in academic labs, tutoring labs, faculty offices, and library, including unpacking, testing, transporting to user site, and interfacing to the network.
- Perform preventive maintenance and use diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures to ensure optimum performance of labs and networks.
- Assist the network administrator in managing and maintaining an optimal technology network for all users of the college
- Participate in professional development activities, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or President.
Distance Education:
- Assist faculty and students with updating passwords and browser issues associated with his or her accounts.
Printer Maintenance
- Assist with maintaining the storage area and order cartridges for labs under IT administration.
- Use IP addresses to monitor ink levels on network printers in essential offices and labs.
- Assist faculty, staff, and administration with obtaining quotes for printer cartridges.
- Assist faculty, staff, and administration with printer problems or issues.
- Assist with installation of printers in labs and network printers.
Dixon Theatre & Conference Center:
- Maintain Dixon Center electronic calendar and website and verify that all information is posted correctly and updated.
- Responsible for the issuance and maintaining accurate rental agreements for community events.
- Calculate rental fee and communicate orally and in writing with the prospective renter. Collect deposit with agreement and remainder before the event.
- Meet with prospective renters to explain the use and restrictions on the use of the facilities, including instructing on safety measures.
- Inspect the facilities before and after each event.
- Check out keys to the building and verify all keys are returned at the conclusion of the event.
- Periodically inspect all technical equipment to make sure it is in working order and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment.
- Assist with the setup of light and sound systems for LBWCC productions in the theatre or other prior approved activities.
- Program the Paradigm system to allow users to access stage lights.
- Manage Brightsign Infosystems on Andalusia, Greenville, and Opp campuses.

- Perform night and weekend duties when needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with experience in technology and sound and lighting operations in theater.
