Position Summary

The individual in this position sets up and supports the Nursing and Health lab experiences, maintains maintenance and inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; and communicates regularly with faculty teaching Nursing and Health labs and with the Lab Coordinator. This individual participates in college and division pre-semester meetings and training as directed.
 
The work schedule for this position is 20 hours per week. Flexibility is required based on course needs.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the setup of Nursing and Health course labs, clinical skill practice labs, skill competency testing sessions, and other faculty-identified laboratory learning experiences under the direction of the Lab Coordinator.
  • Set up of Nursing and Health simulators: for example, Vital Sim, SimMan, SimBaby, Virtual IV, Blood Pressure arms for simulation sessions.
  • Operate Human Simulators under faculty direction during student simulation experiences.
  • Act as a standardized participant under faculty direction during student simulation experiences.
  • Maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies in the Nursing and Health labs.
  • Anticipate supply and material replacement needs and communicate with Lab Coordinator in a reasonable time frame.
  • Coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and repair of all Nursing and Health lab equipment with the Lab Coordinator.
  • Coordinate storage of supplies, equipment, and materials used in the Nursing and Health labs.
  • Coordinate laundering of linens with the Lab Coordinator.
  • Coordinate safety and disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials with the Lab Coordinator.
  • Communicate regularly with faculty teaching in the Health and Nursing labs and with the Lab Coordinator.
  • Participate in college and division pre-semester meetings and training as directed.
 
 Additional Duties:
 Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Education and Training

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certificate in health field preferred
  • 2 years' experience in health field preferred

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in health field preferred
  • Ability to work with diverse populations required
  • Ability to work as a team member required
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in use of technology: personal computer, Microsoft Office products, internet
   
Physical Working Environment:  Describe the physical working environment and list any hazardous and toxic substances used in the performance of duties.
 
  • Works in a health and nursing lab
  • Must be able to work with latex products. 
  • Various cleaning agents, 70% alcohol, silicone, sharps and oxygen. 
  • Must be able to lift at least 40lbs,
  • Use basic tools to calibrate equipment.
 
Work schedule is flexible based on course needs each semester. Work hours will be coordinated with the Lab Coordinator.
