Position Overview

The intern will support the development of DNA methylation data analysis pipelines on AWS Omics. This role will involve working with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and assisting in the development of robust cloud-based workflows for clinical sample processing. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the transition of current pipelines to a fully operational pipeline on AWS, ensuring data compliance within the US environment.

This 2025 summer internship position is onsite in San Diego.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Support DNA methylation data analysis pipeline development.
• Implement AWS omics pipeline for whole genome and targeted NGS experiments.
• Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

• Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

Scheduling requirements:

• Ability to work full time and onsite in San Diego.

Physical requirements:

• Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 100% of a typical working day.
• Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
• Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
• Ability to work seated for approximately 100% of a typical working day.
• Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD degree program in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
• Basic proficiency in Python, R, and workflow languages is essential, as well as experience with AWS.
• Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
