Position Overview

This summer internship position is design for senior Ph.D. student major in Bioinformatics, CS, mathematics or data sciences. The intern will work closely with senior bioinformaticians in the MRD assay dev team to improve MRDv2 assay probe design process using advanced ML/AI strategy

This role is intended to be a full-time internship opportunity, during Summer 2025, onsite in San Diego.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze genomics data including NGS data sets
  • Model building and evaluation
  • Program in python and/or R efficiently
  • Able to use computing resources on AWS effectively
  • Summarize the work for internal discussing and result sharing
  • Present project work to internal and external stakeholders
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

Scheduling requirements:

  • Ability to work designated schedule.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 95% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 95% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 5% of a typical working day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field. Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, including familiarity with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and model evaluation techniques.
  • Experience with genomics data preprocessing, feature engineering.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with deep learning frameworks and techniques. Experience handling and analyzing large NGS datasets.

Salary Range:

$37,000.00 - $59,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis.
