Senior Fiscal Officer

Job Description

SENIOR FISCAL OFFICER, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), to conduct high-level financial work crucial to advancing RLE's mission; take charge of implementing key strategic and operational objectives; assume responsibility for designing, overseeing, and managing the financial framework for some of RLE's most substantial and complex research programs; oversee a diverse range of intricate interdisciplinary research programs that align with RLE's mission; manage both pre-award and post-award research administration activities, and oversee day-to-day financial transactions including , award set-up, closing activities, transaction approvals, financial projections, comprehensive review and control; ensure strict compliance, punctual periodic reporting, and provide expert guidance for PIs, and support for research administration operations and complex policy matters; and conduct high-level financial modeling, in-depth analysis, budget formulation, and reporting, collaborating closely with RLE leadership, the Lab Director, and prominent principal investigators.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years of experience in accounting or finance; experience administering sponsored research programs in a university setting and experience in financial management; advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; advanced-level budget management/forecasting skills; experience managing gift revenue and general Institute budget funds; familiarity with student appointments, including funding sources; robust communication, analytical, organizational, customer experience, and interpersonal skills; discretion with confidential information; and keen attention to detail; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and interact effectively with faculty and staff; ability to manage competing priorities and handle a large volume of daily work despite interruptions in a challenging, fast-paced environment; and demonstrated tact in stressful situations.
