Job Description Summary   
 The Coordinator of Continuing Education, Public Safety Technologies will be a member of a diverse team who will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and administrative tasks of the continuing education offerings, including course management, support the scheduling and building of courses, assist with student registration, supervise course close-outs, and promote non-credit programs and courses. The coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders, assist in coordination of course resources, and other administrative duties. This part-time position will report to the Director of Public Safety Technologies. 

This position is located at our Northwest Forsyth campus in King, NC.

 Education and/or Experience: 
  • Required Associates Degree or higher 
  • Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of Economic and Workforce Development and Public Safety Technologies at Forsyth Technical Community College. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment 
  •  Possess strong computer and keyboarding skills. 
  • Demonstrated data-informed, decision making skills. 
Preferred Qualifications    
  •  Experience with Public Safety Programs or previous Community College experience 
  •  Experience promoting and recruiting participation in new programs/activities 
Essential Duties        
 Management: 
    • Ensure all program reports and compliance records are stored, maintained, and completed in a timely and correct manner.
    • Maintain, review, and update course descriptions and announcements for assigned continuing education courses. 
    • Ensure all programs adhere to Forsyth Technical Community College, State, and program policies. 
    • In collaboration with program coordinators and PST Director plan, develop, schedule, and supervise compliance checks and process improvement iniativies.
    • Act as a service agent to secure instructional material and equipment needed for courses/programs, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. 
    •  Assume responsibility for being familiar with and adhering to all policies of the College. 
    • Conduct class visits at various campuses and offsite locations.

 

 
Community Engagement and Recruiting:
  •  Develop and implement outreach initiatives to enhance community awareness of and participation in the assigned courses/programs. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to ensure website information is updated and accurate and prepare materials for promoting courses/programs. •
  • Review and assist in development of partnership agreements with community partners. 

Continuous Improvement and Team Work:
  •  Implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of course processing and reporting. 
  • Participate in team meetings and college wide events to contribute to the success of the program. 
  •  Give and receive constructive feedback in a manner that focuses on the situation and not on the individual(s). 
  •  Maintain open, clear communication with all internal and external customers, including stakeholders of specialized vocations. 
  •  Identify and utilize public relations opportunities to promote the college and the department. 
  •  Stay informed about trends and developments in continuing education and Public Safety, and attend professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
