Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Continuing Education supports the development, coordination, and administration of continuing education programs. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Continuing Education to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and accessible continuing education opportunities that meet the needs of our service area.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the development, scheduling, marketing, implementing, delivering and evaluating non-credit instruction.
- Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of professional and support staff.
- Assist in the development of new non-credit courses and programs and establishes and aligns pathways to credit programs.
- Assist for the development, administration and monitoring of the departmental and grant budgets.
- Prepare and submit reports required for institutional and grants performance measures, federal and state reporting, licensing and accrediting agencies for current and future grants.
- Oversee analysis of department budgetary needs and participate in the development of grants.
- Establish and maintain external relationships, which benefit instruction, including business and industry, community, secondary and post-secondary institutions, and other appropriate agencies.
- Participate in Southern Association, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and other accreditation procedures and activities; implement and monitor Institutional Effectiveness plan.
- The position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed, beyond standard business hours.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Dean of Community Education, Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and/or President.

Required:- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Business Administration, Sociology, Psychology or related field.
- 3 years of experience in workforce development, continuing education, and/or working with adult learners.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred:- 3 years Experience working in writing and managing workforce grants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The Assistant Director must have strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The Assistant Director must be able to build strong relationships and collaborate with college divisions, educational institutions, local businesses, community based/professional organizations and governmental agencies.
- Must have a strong understanding of continuing education program development and administration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
