The new faculty member will have an academic background in film and video and be an excellent, innovative, student-centered teacher with hands-on pre-production, production, and post-production skills who participates in developing and promoting the Communication Arts program and helps sustain and grow its media arts curriculum and media production facilities. The regular teaching load is 3/3 per academic year with a rotation of courses that may include Image and Sound, Screenwriting, Advanced Screenwriting, Fundamentals of Video Production, Fundamentals of Audio Production, Advanced Video Production, Advanced Topics in Digital Media, Documentary, and other courses in individual areas of creative, research, and teaching expertise.
The position also entails mentoring students through independent studies, internships, and capstone projects. Along with teaching, the successful candidate will have and maintain an impactful, active, and well-regarded program of creative and/or scholarly work, pursue grant opportunities, and serve the program, department, college, university, and public as necessary and appropriate. Regular service responsibilities will include supervision of audio, video, and digital editing production studios including the hiring and supervising of lab assistants as needed; monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading equipment; organizing a Cinema Arts Day event within the UNH Undergraduate Research Conference; and maintaining contacts and partnerships with area high school media arts programs. Interest and experience in civic/service learning or other ways to connect student work to business, nonprofit, and underserved communities is a plus. A strong commitment to inclusiveness in a small-college community of diverse traditional and nontraditional learners and interdisciplinary faculty is also expected.
