Job Description

The locations for this position will vary between La Jolla, Hillcrest and Encinitas with the primary location being in La Jolla.

Be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing exceptional care in the field of General Endocrinology, Diabetes, Osteoporosis and Thyroid disease populations. Work in a collaborative environment where your skills and contributions are valued. Conduct phone triage, assist with inbox management to streamline communication, manage individual patient case management, utilize nursing-sensitive indicators to monitor the quality and effectiveness of care. Provide point-of-care testing, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, injections, and clinical education to both patients and staff. Familiarity with insulin pumps, insulin vials/syringes/pens, glucose meters, and continuous glucose monitors.

Adhere to high customer service standards in all interactions with patients, families, and staff. Participate in continuing education activities and self-directed learning to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field. The successful candidate will have experience working in fast pace ambulatory procedural setting. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment, maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, other visitors, and fellow employees. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of recent ambulatory RN experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions for high volume ambulatory practice.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, relational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to be flexible in working independent or within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient service.
  • Must have phone triage and in-basket/case management experience with ability to manage high volume
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN/MSN.
  • Experience with General Endocrinology, Diabetes, Osteoporosis and Thyroid.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator.
  • RN Case Management experience.
  • Experience educating patients.
  • Demonstrate experience with insulin pumps, insulin vials/syringes/pens, glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors.
  • Demonstrate experience in type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
