Summary of Position
The Center for Acoustics Research & Education (CARE) seeks an outstanding scientist with a doctorate in oceanography and a proven record of research focusing on measuring and modeling acoustic interactions with the seafloor (scatter, reflection, attenuation, geoacoustic properties, etc.) and related environmental parameters such as seafloor roughness and near-bottom hydrodynamics.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous research program and will be expected to secure funding to support their annual salary. The Assistant Research Professor will join CARE’s multi-disciplinary team of faculty.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in oceanography with research emphasis in underwater acoustics, seafloor acoustics, bottom boundary layer hydrodynamics and related acoustic measurement systems.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Additional qualifications:
- a record of securing research funding
- experience teaching underwater acoustics at the graduate level
- demonstrated evidence of excellence in research
- demonstrated record of mentoring at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
